Sun is Always There

 11-7-2022

Today was my first evening shift in the tower. I was quite busy for the first 3 hours but now things have settled down and I can sit back and take a breath. The sun is at the same elevation as it’s been all day but now it is on the opposite side of the tower from its morning haunts. We have a high-speed sun deflector that we use as the sun rotates. It’s a 2 foot by 3-foot piece of cardboard that we manually move from window to window! I can tell you it is very peaceful and quiet right now.

My morning was spent in the “gerbil gym” walking on the treadmill followed by some very rewarding time on the yoga matt. Time constraints have not allowed me to exercise as much as I’d like but this should be a very good exercise week. Mornings are a good time to exercise because most people are working, and I have the gym almost to myself.

As I look out the front tower window, I have a great view of Black Island and White Island. They are interesting in that one is almost completely covered in snow and the other, very nearby, has little snow cover at all. Mother nature never ceases to amaze me.
