Willy Field

 11-3-2022

I’m so happy today because I got to work in the Control Tower at Williams Field, (imagine that they named an airport after me) and it was a beautiful day. It takes about 30 minutes to travel from town out to the airport, but it is 30 minutes of the most spectacular scenery in the world. Of course, the highlight is Mt Erebus, one of only two active volcanos in the world with a lava lake in the cone.

It’s so close to the Tower it looks as though you could reach out to touch it. When it warms up a little (LOL) I’m going to hike the road to the airport. I plan to take some pictures to share with you and I can’t wait for you to see them.

I am including one picture. It’s a remnant of our Halloween decorations. The party is Saturday night. It was postponed from last week, but everyone is busily working on their costumes. It’s always one of the great parties of the year.

I’m also including some pictures inside and outside of the control tower. They’re a little dark because I took them through the tower shades. I’ll send more later.

Each day is a little better than the last, now as the weather warms and we conclude our training. Everything here happens at such an accelerated pace as everyone tries to complete whatever it is they’re working on. Some have even completed their work and headed for home. Time is passing too quickly!
